About Lord's Cricket Ground Tour

Lord's has been the home of Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) since 1814, when the ground moved to its current St John's Wood site under founder Thomas Lord, and remains cricket's most historically significant venue, hosting Test matches, the Cricket World Cup final and English domestic cricket's showpiece finals throughout the year.

The roughly 100-minute guided tour takes visitors through the Grade II-listed Victorian Pavilion, including the Long Room — the wood-panelled gallery players walk through en route to the pitch, lined with portraits of cricket's most significant historical figures — and seats normally reserved exclusively for England players and MCC members, offering views across the hallowed turf few visitors ever otherwise experience.

The tour concludes at the MCC Museum, one of the world's oldest sporting museums, home to the tiny terracotta Ashes urn — the trophy contested by England and Australia since 1882, based on a satirical obituary for English cricket after a defeat that year — alongside the first men's and women's Cricket World Cup trophies and other significant memorabilia.

Tours don't run on major match days, preparation days or large events, so checking the fixture calendar before booking is essential, particularly during the English cricket season from April to September.
