As part of the wider Hauszmann Programme — a long-running government initiative to restore Buda Castle's pre-WWII appearance and rebuild several buildings demolished or damaged in 1944-45 — the museum's Castle Hill exhibition space closed, with a new purpose-built home planned for Dísz Square within the castle complex.
